HOW TO PREPARE FOR DISASTERS
Because of the frequency of typhoons, storms, heavy rains and flooding we experience in the Philippines, PAWS wishes to remind everyone to plan in advance and include your pets in your evacuation plans and take early precautions.
NEVER LEAVE YOUR PETS BEHIND!
Your checklist:
1) Have an emergency kit ready including 3-5 days pet food, pet medicines, pet bowls, towels, drinking water.
2) Keep your pet/s records in a waterproof container. Have pictures of your pet/s on your mobile phone.
3) Make arrangements where your pets can stay temporarily if they cannot come with you to the evacuation center.
4) In case of flooding, do not leave your pets caged or tethered.
5) Stay informed and check with your local government units and news broadcast about evacuation plans.
6) Evacuate early in order to avoid rushing or panicking.
7) If your area is safe and you do not need to evacuate, keep your pets with you indoors, in a quiet, well-ventilated place with their favorite toy or blanket (or one of your shirts) to help keep them calm. They may be sensitive to strong rain, winds and thunderstorms.
